Cubase help! can’t record or hear anything!?

I have cubase 5, tascam us-122l audio interface and microkorg. I have midi cables from my korg to my interface also have a guitar cable from korg to interface and interface is connected to laptop via USB. I can't hear anything when pressin keys and cubase doesn't recognize my korg! please help! extremely frustrated and only just starting out. any help greatly appreciated
