Help with recording songs at home?

Nathan Asked: Help with recording songs at home?

I would really love to start recording my songs at home. I use either Pro Tools, or M-Audio's Session, since it's simpler than Pro Tools and gives me the same quality recordings.

My problem is that everything I want to record is acoustic. And my guitar is an electric acoustic, but when I plug it straight into the interface, it picks up every single little noise. Even the tiniest sound of when my fingers hit the strings, or the tiniest bit of fret noise when I do a hammer-on. So my solution is to use a mic since it doesn't pick up as much.

My question is, where should i record? Is there a particular place? I don't have the money for studio time and I don't have a home studio or anything like that. I live in a single family home. I hear a lot of people sometimes record in their garage. Any answers from anyone who knows about this, or has any experience is much appreciated! Thanks!

you could always try the bathroom if you can, or if you can ask a friend who has a spare room they will let you use to record. Or even your parents or family.
